Revocation of Special Power of Attorney - Example Document

&[reserved2]
In this example document, the Revocation of Special Power of Attorney is used to revoke a certain Special Power of Attorney, which is identified.   A Revocation of Special Power of Attorney cancels the authoritization granted under the identified Special Power of Attorney for specific purposes.

Because a person may have signed more than one power of attorney at any given time, it is important to specifically identify the Power of Attorney being revoked.  For example, a person may have a General Power of Attorney and a Special Power of Attorney in effect, at the same time.  Thus, this Revocation asks for the specific date the Power of Attorney being revoked was signed, the place signed, (if applicable) recording information, etc.

Many persons are very careful to revoke a power of attorney immediately after the "need" for that power of attorney ceases.  For example, a Special Power of Attorney may be given when the person giving the power (known as the "Principal") is in the hospital for hip surgery but still needs to have someone manage all of his or her business, investments, and/or financial affairs, pay his/her bills, and so on.   Once that principal is able to attend to his or her own affairs again, the Power of Attorney should, ordinarily, be immediately revoked.
